Plot

The main character is told by her mother that she should send a telegram to her father to let him know that his mother passed away. The family sends telegrams instead of calling one another when something important happens in the family, and it is the main character’s job not only to deliver messages to her father in Busan but also to convey the family’s anxieties and concerns for one another.

2013년에 출간된 하성란의 소설집<여름의 맛>에 수록된 단편이다. 작품은 주인공의 가족들이 소식을 전달하는 수단으로 사용했던 '전보'로 인해 벌어지는 일을 유쾌하게 그렸다.
