This is an essay on Kim Soom, the Featured Writer of KLN Vol. 55. In this essay, literary critic Jang Soohee takes the “backmasking technique” in music to describe the literary world of Kim Soom, who highlights the lives of laborers and “comfort women” and rewrites the history of women and laborers in her works such as “The Ulsan Period: Spirit and Fire” (Munye Joongang Spring 2007), Cheol (Iron, 2008), and One Left (2016).

KLN 55호의 특집작가 김숨의 작가론이다.『울산 기(紀) : 물과 불』(문예중앙, 2007),『철』(2008),『한 명』(2016),『흐르는 편지』(2018) 등의 작품 속 인물의 서사를 통해 바라본 노동자와 위안부의 삶을 조명하고 근대 역사 속 배제되었던 여성,노동자의 역사를 다시 쓰는 김숨 작가의 작품세계를 음악의 '백마스킹 기법'에 빗대어 소개한 문학비평가 장수희의 에세이이다.
