银彩鲑鱼是一条敏感且鳞片颜色不同的鲑鱼。在长达数千里的洄游过程中，他总是在不断地苦苦思索：鲑鱼们千辛万苦逆流而上的最终目的，难道仅仅是为了产卵？为了产卵而生存和为了吃而活着又有什么区别呢？人生一定还有其他的理由存在着，而鲑鱼也一定有专属于鲑鱼的生命意义。所谓逆流而上，就是寻找现在看不见的东西，譬如希望、梦想等等，这虽然是件辛苦的事情，但美丽而富有价值。正是在不断探索、不断选择又不断追求的过程中，银彩鲑鱼迅速成长着。就要到达出生地了，一道水势汹涌的瀑布挡住了他们的去路，是勇敢地跃过眼前的瀑布，还是选择一旁水流较为平缓的水道，鲑鱼们展开了激烈的争论……
