This story takes place in the year 4240 since Dangun’s founding of Gojoseon (1907 AD), when Hannom meets historical figures such as Eulji Mundeok and Gang Gam-chan in a dream and attains enlightenment about the nation. When Eulji Mundeok tells him that he must fight against foreign powers, Hannom sets out with his six friends, but they all disappear and Hannom ends up in hell, lured by a beautiful woman, and is scolded for his sins against the nation. He arrives at Im Country where the ancestors of the Korean people are gathered, but learns that in order to enter the country he needs to shed tears for the nation.

This short story strongly reveals Shin Chae-ho's intention to inspire people with the spirit of the nation and encourage people’s consciousness for struggle during the colonial period.

1916년에 쓴 단편소설이다. 발표지는 불명이다. 이 작품은 식민지 시기 민족혼과 투쟁의식을 고취시키기 위한 신채호의 의도가 강하게 드러난 작품이다.
