Plot

For 20 years, the narrator’s mother has sold noodles at a shop called Matnadang. Her hands always hold a kitchen knife, with which she takes care of the family’s livelihood. By her side, the narrator grows up, observing and assisting her at her tasks. One day, the narrator’s mother dies unexpectedly after collapsing while cooking noodles in the kitchen. In Matnadang, the narrator peels an apple with her mother’s knife one last time before departing.
