2018년에 출간된 현길언의 4.3소설집이다. 이 소설집은 '제주4.3'사태를 기념하기 위한 것으로 표제작을 비롯하여 <우리들의 조부님>, <귀향>, <깊은 적막의 끝>등 모두 6편이 수록되어 있다. 작가는 한국현대사의 비극이 발생하게 된 원인을 다양한 측면에서 조명하고 있다. 이념대립으로 인한 가족해체와 균열, 국가에 의한 민간인 학살 등이 현재까지 미치는 영향을 소설 속에 담아내었다.

This collection of six stories by Hyun Kil-un was published in 2018. Intended to commemorate the Jeju uprising, it includes the short stories “Grandfather,” “The Homecoming,” “Dead Silence,” and “Fire and Ashes.” The author is known for examining tragedies in modern Korean history from various angles in his fiction; in this collection, he deals with the divisive impact of ideological conflict on families, as well as the massacre of civilians by the state in the Jeju uprising.
