1795년 4편으로 제작된 혜경궁 홍씨의 회고록이다. 사도세자와 관련된 궁 안의 기록이며, 역사적 사실에 대한 회한을 기록했다는 점에서 여류문학, 궁중문학이라고 할 수 있다. 특히 문장의 우아함과 사실성은 당시 문학의 특징을 확인할 수 있는 중요한 자료라고 할 수 있다.

This is a four-volume memoir written by Lady Hyegyeong of the Pungsan Hong clan from 1795 to 1805. As a primary historical source written by a woman describing events at court during the life of Crown Prince Sado, it possesses both literary and historical significance as a work of pre-modern women’s literature, as well as court literature. It gives insight into the literary qualities characteristic of narratives written during this period.
