This anthology of short stories by Korean writers was published in the United States in 2011. In addition to the title story “Waxen Wings” (1999) by Ha Seong-nan, it includes eight other short stories: “In the Mountains” (1936) by Lee Hyoseok, “Constable Maeng” (1946) by Chae Man-Sik, “Weaver Woman” (1970) by Oh Junghee, “We Teach Shame” (1974) by Park Wansuh, “Prison of the Heart” (1990) by Kim Won-il, “The Pager” (2006) by Kim Young-ha, “Corpses” (2005) by Pyun Hye Young, and “The Glass Shield” (2008) by Kim Junghyuk. The anthology introduces works of Korean fiction from the 1930s to the 2000s. The short stories offer a view of modern Korean culture.
