Plot

Ground down by poverty, the narrator is cynical about life. Her boyfriend Cheolsu used to be like her, but after serving in the military he has become more realistic, placing greater value on his desires. Noticing this change in his personality, the narrator decides to leave him and devote more time to herself.

1998년에 출간된 배수아의 장편소설이다. 작품은 가난한 현실과 일상에 대한 냉소로 사람들 사이에서 적응하지 못하고 자신만의 절대적인 고립 속으로 침잠하는 주인공을 그렸다. 작가 특유의 깊이 있는 시선으로 인간내면의 무의미와 허무를 그렸다.
