Plot

When he hears that his country, the Republic of Uzupis, which he has been away from for a long time, has become independent, Hal goes to Lithuania in order to head home. He takes a cab from the airport and tells the cab driver go to Uzupis, and the cab driver drops him off at a hotel with the same name. When Hal asks people about the Republic of Uzupis, they tell him to go find Vladimir. As he searches for Uzupis in every way he can, Hal realizes that people are either denying Uzupis entirely or hiding something.

This is a novel by Haïlji, published in 2009. Through the journey of the protagonist who searches for a homeland that does not exist in reality, the author asks what nostalgia is. Going on a search for the whereabouts of an unknown homeland is like wandering in search of an utopia, and it reveals the old unconscious intentions of humans.

2009년 출간된 하일지의 장편소설이다. 작품은 현실에 존재하지 않는 고국을 찾아나서는 주인공의 여정을 통해 노스탤지어란 무엇인지 질문을 던지고 있다. 불분명한 고국의 행방을 찾는 일은 이상향을 찾아 떠도는 것과 같은 것으로 인간의 오래된 무의식적인 지향을 드러낸다고 볼 수 있다.
