Plot

The narrator tells Ha-won, a woman he meets by chance, about his mysterious experience. He says that he came in contact with some unidentified creature, whom he names “Eskimo Prince.” I go on a journey to find out what the Eskimo Prince is and the reason it appears and vanishes.

This is a short story by Youn Dae-Nyeong, published in Jakga segye (Writers’ World) in 1999. This work embodies the protagonist’s inner journey in search of the perfect completion of himself. The protagonist’s alter ego, described as “Eskimo Prince” or “Seongseongi,” reveals the author’s keen interest in insight to self.
