Plot

The narrator dates and eventually marries In-a, who love soccer. Then one day, In-a says that she has a lover and suggests that the three of them live together. In-a's explanation of double marriage is convincing, and the narrator accepts the offer. Subtle conflicts arise in the relationship, and as the three of them make efforts to resolve the conflicts, they think about love and the institution of marriage. After a long while, In-a and the narrator decide to immigrate to New Zealand.

This is a novel by Park Hyun-wook, published in 2006. It won the 2nd World Literature Prize. Reflecting its popularity, the novel was adapted into a film in 2008. This work raises questions about marriage and social conventions about double marriage through the story of a man who marries a woman who practices non-exclusive and polygamous love. The author uses witty and lighthearted sentences to introduce rather controversial topics.

2006년에 출간된 박현욱의 장편소설이다. 제2회 세계문학상을 수상했다. 작품에 대한 인기를 반영하듯 2008년 영화로 만들어지기도 했다. 작품은 '비독점적 다자연애' 결혼관을 가진 여성과 결혼한 남자의 이야기를 통해 결혼관과 이중결혼에 대한 통념에 대해 문제를 제기하고 있다. 논쟁적인 주제를 작가 특유의 위트있는 시각과 경쾌한 문장으로 구성해내었다.
