Plot

Hye-wan learns that her friend Yeong-seon has attempted suicide. Hye-wan, Gyeong-hye, and Yeong-seon have been best friends since college days, and they were all proud to be smart and strong women. After graduation, Yeong-seon married a film director, and while her friends believed that her family life was peaceful, she attempted suicide. This incident brings the three friends together, and they begin to talk about their lives.

This is a novel by Ji-Young Gong, published in 1993. It tells the story of the confusion and suffering of women in Korean society through three women, each leading their own, different life. It is considered to have raised the issue of discrimination and oppression inflicted on women as problem in society as a whole.
