Plot

Marok yeoljeon (The tale of Marok) is a series of four short stories. It tells the story of a nouveau riche man who pretends to be a nobleman, the story of a military officer who gets lucky through an ingenious act, the story of an uncorrupted government official begging for appointment, and the story of a secret royal inspector accusing the behaviors of intellectuals.

This is a series of novels by Suh Ki-Won, published between 1971 and 1972. In 1972, it was published as a collection titled Marok Yeoljeon (The tale of Marok). Placing the modern and the classics in the same time frame, it embodies the spirit of traditional satire in the modern style. It is considered to indirectly criticize and satirize the military regime of the 1970s.

1971년에서 1972년 사이에 발표된 서기원의 연작 소설이다. 1972년에 소설집 <마록열전>으로 출간되었다. 이 작품은 현대와 고전을 동일한 시간상에 위치시킴으로써 전통적인 풍자 정신을 현대적인 문체로 표현했다. 1970년대 군사정권을 우회적으로 비판, 풍자하고 있다는 평가를 받는다.
