1936년 4월 <여성>에 연재되었던 모윤숙의 장편산문집이다. 아프리카 밀림에 서식하는 새의 이름인 '렌(ren)'을 빌려 작가 내면의 사랑을 토로하고 있는  작품이다. 한편, 렌이 닿을 수 없는 대상은 '시몬', 즉 예수를 배반했던 베드로로 설정하여 식민지 시대 우리나라 남성들의 한계를 표현하기도 하였다.

This is a collection of Moh Youn Sook’s prose which was serialized in the literary magazine Women in 1936. Wren is the name of a bird in the African jungle, and in Mo’s work, the bird symbolizes love. Peter, who denies Jesus in the Bible, and whom Wren’s love cannot reach in her writing, represents the limitations faced by men in Korea under the Japanese occupation.
