1983년 <돈황의 사랑>으로 출간되었던 윤후명의 소설로 2005년 <둔황의 사랑>으로 제목을 바꾸면서 상당한 부분량을 수정하여 그간에 발표한 '돈황시리즈'를 묶어 연작장편소설로 출간했다. <둔황의 사랑>, <로올란의 사랑>, <사랑의 돌사자>, <사막의 여자> 등 모두 4편의 작품을 묶어 한 편의 연작장편소설로 만들었다. 이들 작품은 '나'의 정체성을 찾는 여정으로 이루어져있는데, 실크로드에서 가장 발달했던 도시 둔황과 로올란을 거쳐 사막에 이르러 나를 탐구하는 과정이 작가 특유의 아름다운 문장으로 그려져 있다.

This novel was originally published under the title The Love of Donhuwang, and the writer edited that previously published version and republished it in 2005 as The Love of Dunhuang. The story is divided into four parts: “The Love of Dunhuang,” “The Love of Loulan,” “The Stone Lion of Love,” and “A Woman in the Desert.” The main character is on a pilgrimage to find himself, and in beautiful prose, the writer portrays his journey from Dunhuang and Loulan, cities which flourished on the Silk Road, to the desert.
