Plot

The collection of short stories titled Namdo saram (People of Namdo) features characters who feel shame and resentment by attributing their unhappy family history to their personal fate. Some such characters include the mother in “Nungil (Snowy path)” and Songhwa in “Seopyonje.”

This is a series of short stories by Yi Chong-Jun, published in 1978. It contains 13 stories, including “Seopyeonje,” which was published in Ppurigipeun namu in April 1976, and five stories the author penned on related topics. The stories in this book depict the grievances and sorrows of the people of Namdo.

1978년에 출간된 이청준의 연작소설집이다. 1976년4월<뿌리깊은 나무>에 <서편제>를 발표하고 이후 관련된 주제로 5편을 발표한 후 13편의 단편을 묶어 출간한 것이 소설집<남도사람>이다. 남도사람들의 울분과 한이 그려져 있다.
