1989년에 출간된 천상병 시인의 시선집이다. 천상병의 시는 맑고 깨끗한 서정성으로 인간의 순수성을 보여준다는 평가를 받는다. 표제시인 <귀천>은 가난과 슬픔으로 가득찼던 자신의 삶을 '아름다운 소풍'으로 표현하며 삶에 대한 집착을 버리고 죽음을 담담하게 마주하는 화자의 모습을 보여준다. 현란한 기교나 수사 없이 생에 대한 달관의 자세를 표현했다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받는다.

This collection of Cheon Sang-byeong’s poems was published in 1989. His poetry has been praised for its candid and innocent emotions, and unforced yet lyrical simplicity. In his most famous poem, “Back to Heaven,” he describes his own life marked by pain and suffering as a picnic, and he speaks of emptying oneself of the obsession for life and accepting death as simply a passage from one world to another. His poetry is devoid of any sentimentalism or embellishment; he simply shares with his readers his understanding of life in a plain language
