Plot

Sangbeom is a gullible, young man who realizes he has to change in order to survive. He decides to pursue the Machiavellian way of scheming, cheating, and conniving to get what he wants.

1966년5월 <신동아>에 발표된 이근삼의 희곡이다. 그단<민중극단>에 의해 같은 해 초연되었다. 작품은 1960년대 본격화된 산업화로 인한 배금주의와 출세주의를 비판한 정통 서사극이다. 작가 이근삼 특유의 우화적이고 희극적인 서사가 잘 드러난 작품이다.

This play was first published in the literary magazine New Donga in May 1966, and it premiered at the People’s Theater in the same year. A black comedy critical of materialism and opportunism rooted in the industrialization of the 1960s, the play is peppered with the playwright’s sense of humor and metaphors in a speedy and dramatic narrative.
