This collection of Ku Sang’s poems was published in 2012. With religion and metaphysical philosophy as underlying themes, his poems are a potent commentary on the division of the country and on his identity as a person who left North Korea to live in the South. With a poetic perspective rooted deeply in Christianity existentialism, the structure of his poems encompasses the Christian idea of salvation and Asian philosophy.  In Wasteland Poems published in 1956, he depicts the pain and suffering caused by the Korean War and the transcendence from the pain which leads to salvation. Critics have described him as a romantic seeker of truth who speaks of salvation and hope in the midst of devastation and ruins.

2012년에 출간된 시인 구상의 시선집이다. 구상의 시는 근본적으로 종교적 문단과 철학의 형이상학을 근본으로 하고 있다. 그러나 그 속에는 민족의 분단 현실과 월남인으로서의 자의식이 내재해 있다. 기독교적인 존재론에 기반한 그의 미의식은 기독교적 구원 의식과 동양 사상을 포괄하는 구도적 경향이 강하다. 1956년에 발표된 그의 대표 연작시 <초토의 시>는 한국전쟁의 고통 속에서 그 고통을 초월하여 구원의 세계로 이르는 과정을 드러낸다. 폐허와 같은 현실에서 구원의 희망을 노래하는 낭만적 구도자라는 평가를 받는다.
