1999년에 출간된 고종석의 에세이다. <국어의 변두리를 담은 몇 개의 풍경화>라는 부제가 붙은 이 책은 언어순결주의에 대한 비판으로 구성되어 있다. 기자 출신인 저자는 인간의 문화와 언어는 여러 세계가 감염되어 구성된 것이므로 언어 역시 다르지 않다는 것을 주장하고 있다.

This collection of critical essays by Koh Jongsok  was published in 1999 with the subtitle Purity versus Hybridity. Using his experience as a journalist, he argues in the book that languages and cultures influence and alter one another, and that the Korean language is not an exception.
