Plot

Chunhyang, the daughter of a gisaeng, and Lee Mongryong, the son of a yangban, meet in a chance encounter and fall in love. The two promise to spend the future together but break up due to the difference in their statuses. After some time, Lee Mongryong passes the civil service exam and returns to his old hometown where Chun-hyang still resides and asks for her forgiveness from making her suffer.

This is a love story about Seong Chunhyang and Lee Mongryong that transcended social statuses, which took place in Namwon, South Jeolla Province, in late Joseon. Seong Chunhyang's self-aware and active attitude toward protecting her love has been highly praised to this day.
