    This is an introductory material on poet Moon Taejun, produced for the Korea-Russia Literary Event. Moon participated in the “Korea-Russia Conversation with Writers” on October 23, followed by a poetry reading at Moscow State University in October 26, where he communed with local Russian students who were studying Korean literature.     The theme of _List Vol. 10 is “Poetry of Korea.” Through the three subthemes “Where the Power of the Pen Still Lives On,” “Rediscovering the Self Through Lyricism,” and the “Rise of a Modern Sensibility,” this issue introduces the social context that gave birth to Korean poetry, as well as English translations of works by poets Hwang Tong-gyu, Ra Heeduk, Moon Taejun, Chong Hyon-jong, Lee Seong-Bok, and Jang Jung-il. In addition, this issue features interviews with poet Chong Hyon-jong and novelist Lee Seung-U, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, author’s notes by novelist Song Sokze, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature, and an excerpt from Oh Jung-hee’s “Garden of Childhood” and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.

    The Cover Feature of KLN Vol. 70 centers on the theme of “The Birth of a Writer” and explores the stories of two writers (poet Jo Hae Ju and writer and stand-up comedian Soyoon Won), who began their literary careers through paths other than Korea’s unique “literary debut” (deungdan) system. The Featured Writer section includes an interview with poet Shin Hae-uk, ten of her poems, and a critical review of her work. This issue also introduces essays by Swedish comic book artist Lisa Wool-Rim Sjöblom and French translator Pierre Bisiou. The Bookmark section features Jeong Gi Hyun’s short story “Wishful Wall-Clock World” and Kim Young-ha’s essay “The Waltz of Expectation and Disappointment,” as well as poems by Song Jaehak and Moon Tae Jun. The issue also includes reviews of Korean literature published in English, Japanese, Turkish, Spanish, and Dutch, such as dd’s Umbrella, A Thousand Blues, and Reinvestigation.
