“The moment I found a voice to express my stories, I believe I was truly happy.” — Suzy Lee

Pensieri su carta is a book written in the first person by Suzy Lee, a diary born from the evolution of her personal blog, where for the first time the author reveals her personal and professional journey. Through anecdotes and memories, Suzy Lee takes the reader to the places and among the people who have influenced her life and work: from the beach that inspired Wave to the theater where Alice in Wonderland was born. She retraces her beginnings during her university years to her international recognition, which culminated in winning the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award.

But Suzy Lee also shares many aspects of her private life — the struggle to balance her career with being a mother, the challenge of being recognized as an author before being seen as an illustrator, and the battles fought over the practical aspects of the profession (contracts, agents, publishers). The book is enriched with a series of previously unpublished photographs showing moments of family life, professional achievements, objects and places that inspired her, and images of her work in progress.

Pensieri su carta is part of the Visual Essays series, a collection of books for those seeking new visual cues for looking at reality.
