Yeonghye é unha muller sen apenas voz que decide facerse vexetariana logo de empezar a ter soños violentos.

O marido de Yeonghye, o seu cuñado e a súa irmá máis vella contan a historia desta muller dende o seu punto de vista nos tres relatos que compoñen esta novela.

No primeiro relato, “A vexetariana”, un home mediocre descobre que a súa parella está cambiando. No segundo, “A mancha mongólica”, a perspectiva é a do cuñado de Yeonghye, un artista audiovisual que non consegue sacar unha imaxe da cabeza e está disposto a todo para facela realidade.

O último relato, “As lapas das árbores”, segue a Inhye, a irmá de Yeonghye, mentres se enfronta ás consecuencias da decisión da súa irmá.

A vexetariana recibiu o premio Man Booker en 2016 e o premio San Clemente en 2018.
