<12巻 あらすじ>
還国と共に西大門刑務所で吉祥に面会した西姫は、その帰途、釜山で盲腸炎になり手術を受けた。晋州から駆けつけた朴医師はなぜか取り乱している。その晋州ではソリムの縁談が周囲に波紋を広げ、彼女に思いを寄せていた還国と舜徹も心を乱す。
独立運動に関わる錫と寛洙は執拗に警察に追われ、満州や沿海州の運動家たちも身動きが取れない。
龍井を訪れた恵観は周甲と別れてあてどない旅に出る。
平沙里では紀花が痛ましい最期を迎え、娘の良鉉は西姫の元で還国・允国の妹として暮らす。
朝鮮を離れている良鉉の父相鉉は、明姫に意外な手紙を送る。
龍が世を去り、息子の弘は龍井に移り住む決意を固める。
