    KLN is published and distributed for the purpose of generating a discourse on Korean literature and introducing Korean writers and works to general readers and experts overseas. The theme of KLN Vol. 43 is Queen Literature. Recently, members of Korean society have summoned feminism as a language to change their lives, bringing about a renaissance of feminist literature. This trend has also led to the recognition of queer-themed books as important works in mainstream media and journals, and to a strong popular reception as well.

    This is an introductory booklet on OH JUNGHEE, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and the literary event ‘Voices of Korean Women’ in June. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of The Bird’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Cha Mi-ryeong, and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. OH JUNGHEE participated in literary events in Munich and Wien (June), Frankfurt House of Literature, Bad Berleburg, and Bad Homburg (October). As one of the 12 Masters of Korean Literature, she was introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion—with a large photograph and a list of her major works and translated titles.

    This is an introductory material on writer Oh Junghee for the 2007 Korea-Vietnam Literary Exchange. On December 4 and 5, Oh read an excerpt from her short story collection Chinatown at the reading events held at Hanoi University of Foreign Studies. She also participated in a conversation between female writers along with the Vietnamese writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu on December 6, and gave a lecture at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities on December 7.
