The Seoul Young Writers’Festival (SYWF) was held from May 18-24, 2008, as a practical meeting between
Korean and world literature. Yoon Jikwan, the director of LTI Korea, said in his welcoming speech that “I hope this event would serve as a venue for open communication and inspiration, in keeping with the theme of the festival.” The theme of the festival, indeed, was “Communication + Inspiration.”Twenty Korean writers, all under the age of forty-five, met with twenty foreign writers at this event to share their thoughts on literature. Also, public readings and “Writers’Talks”were held in various venues including Sangsang Madang, Dawon Arts and Media Space, and Club Ta, located around Hongik University.
Ten readings with teams of four domestic and foreign writers were held.

At the “Writers’Talks,”the participants discussed the theme, “My Inspiration.”
