LTI Korea Signs Agreement with Bucheon City

The Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea) (President: Kim Sa-in) signed a cooperation agreement with the city of Bucheon (Mayor: Jang Deog Cheon) on September 5 for the expansion of Korean literature exchanges.

The agreement includes items such as the sharing of resources for mutual development, plans for cooperation in literary exchanges between UNESCO Cities of Literature, and the hosting of literary events for the promotion of literary enjoyment domestically and overseas.

The City of Bucheon was named East Asia’s first UNESCO City of Literature in November of 2017 for its historic literary heritage, rich literary offerings, and strong library infrastructure.

At the agreement ceremony, Mayor Jang remarked, “This agreement will allow us to continue our mutual cooperation for the expansion of Korean literature at home and abroad.” President Kim responded, “LTI Korea will honor the agreement, sparing no effort in sharing its 20-year expertise on the introduction of Korean literature to the global stage with the city of Bucheon.”

LTI Korea and the city of Bucheon will continue to develop new cooperative efforts that can be easily branded, starting with the Asia Translators’ Festival in October.

LTI Korea will continue to pursue cooperative projects with other domestic organizations for not only the global proliferation of Korean literature but also of the promotion of domestic literature in Korea.
