The International Literature Festival Dublin is UNESCO city of literature Dublin’s most popular literary festival and was first held in 1998. LTI Korea held an event with writer Lee Seung-U on May 28, emceed by The Irish Times literary editor and critic Eileen Battersby. At the event, Lee read an excerpt from his novel The Private Life of Plants, published in 2015 by Dalkey Archive Press, after which he discussed the book with Eileen, then answered questions from the audience, and finally signed copies of his book.

The event was held at 2 pm at the Wood Quay Venue within the premises of the Dublin City Council Civic Offices. The audience received handouts with translated excerpts from Lee’s The Private Life of Plants and The Reverse Side of Life, along with copies of LTI Korea’s English quarterly (_list: Books from Korea).

Writer Christine Dwyer Hickey and Gaelic poet Seamus Barra O’Suillieabhain attended this year’s Korean literature event as well, continuing their participation in LTI Korea’s events since 2014. By holding Korean literature events at the festival for three years running, LTI Korea has continuously been contributing to promoting Korean literature in the Irish market.
