This anthology introduces representative short stories from Korea published from the post-liberation period to the 1980s. It includes six short stories, including Yun Heung-gil’s “Jangma” (장마 The Rainy Spell) as the title piece, along with Kim Dongri’s “Yeongma” (역마 The post horse curse), and Kim Seungok’s “Seoul, 1964 nyeon gyeoul” (서울, 1964년 겨울 Seoul, 1964, Winter).

이 책은 해방 이후부터 1980년대까지 발표된 한국의 대표적인 단편 소설들을 모아 소개한 책이다. 표제작인 윤홍길의 「장마」를 포함하여 김동리의 「역마」, 김승옥의 「서울, 1964년 겨울」등 총 6편의 단편 소설이 수록되어 있다.
