時代の重き足枷に生きる人間の苦悩と、果てなき統一への希求をこめ、南北「分断」をテーマに編まれた短篇アンソロジー。

This collection comprises Korean short stories from the 1990s, primarily written by writers associated with the activist movement, and selected and translated by the translator. Most of the works included were originally published in literary journals or anthologies. The explanatory notes feature excerpts from a letter by Kim Yeong-hyeon to the translator.

운동권 출신 작가를 중심으로 1990년대 소설을 번역자가 선정하여 번역하고 있다. 수록 작품의 대다수가 창작과 비평사의 문예지나 소설집에서 발표된 작품들이다. 해설에서는 김영현이 번역자에게 쓴 편지의 일부가 소개되고 있다.
